Bandaid tool has no drop down

Recommended Posts

Forgive the novice question, however I just purchased this program TODAY. I am watching tutorials on YouTube, trying to follow along to learn a few things and realize I can’t get to any extra features they are trying to show me because my healing tool has no drop down arrow.... I can’t click it and have extra options either. And for some reason it’s not automatically in my side bar. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the Forums @Cro1707  ☺️  It looks as though you have been adding various tools to your toolbar to the point that you have run out of space on your desktop.   So could you try changing your Number of Columns from 1 to 2 and then click Close (not Reset).  Now see whether the Healing Brush Tool (the bandaid) does not appear in your toolbar with a tiny little arrow under it.  The other healing tools are available by clicking on the arrow.

If that does not solve the problem, and if you have not already added a number of brushes, assets, styles, palettes, etc. to your new Photo, I think you could then try closing Photo, then restarting it by holding down Control while you open the app.  You should see a screen "Clear User Data" like the one shown below. Don't put check marks beside any new items, because you would lose your additions.  Press Clear.  This should return your Photo back to the original state.  And that should restore your toolbar to the default icons, which include the Healing Brush Tool.   I hope this helps!

Actually, it is. The forth tool from the bottom of the Tools panel in your screenshot is the Inpainting Brush Tool. It has the triangle indicating other tools are grouped with it, so if you click on that triangle you will get a popup with 5 tools, the first of which is the Healing Brush Tool. The group icon is sticky, meaning it retains the icon of whichever of the tools in the group was last selected.

It isn't obvious but in the customize tools sidebar, each of the tools with a triangle is followed by those that are grouped with it, so in the forth row, the third item is the Inpainting Brush Tool group icon with a triangle, followed by the five individual tools in the group, & then the pattern repeats with the Pen group followed by the two individual tools in that group.
