Affinity Photo crashed, unable to load document

Recommended Posts

Just spent 3 hours recreating what I had created in 6 hours because Affinity Photo crashed and upon restarting the document is unable to load. "Loading failed".
I had a PSD embedded, I was editing something inside, the app crashed and document can't be opened anymore.
Duplicating won't work either.

Version 1.9.2.236
iOS 14.0.1

Hopefully this gets fixed or someone could confirm this is a problem with embedded psd's?

Can you use this link to upload the broken file?

Hi Gabe, I suspect the OP has not created a Save file (.afdesign). Makes it difficult to upload broken files. The current autosave feature saving to 'sandbox, and not to an external (accessible) folder is a real issue for many new users in iOS.🙁

Hi Kenjibailly, Do you save your files externally or rely only on the apps sandbox version? The sandbox files become virtually inaccessible if the file glitches, making it difficult to find the cause or recover the file. Autosave only updates the sandbox file so it’s a safer workflow to use the Save menu (3 bar menu below project icon) to create an .afdesign file outside of sandbox (easily copied/moved/backed up) and then, regularly use the Document menu Save option (manual saves) during editing process to update this file. Hopefully Affinity will address the shortcomings of the current autosave feature in a future update.
