Disable brush guide, pointer and/or crosshairs.

Hi @artislife,

Welcome to the Affinity forums :)

In the Preferences for the Affinity app it's possible to disable the live brush preview, or enable a constant crosshair - however it's unfortunately not possible to disable these altogether, my apologies.

Therefore I'll move this thread to the Feedback section of our forums, for our devs to see and consider.

I hope this helps!

Hi Dan,

Neither of the options are working.  It seemed to work to change the circle around the brush to a crosshair in the past, but now I cannot even enact the crosshair.  Any suggestions?

I certainly hope you guys will resolve this in the next update. I have seen many others complain of this too. It is nearly impossible to paint and draw with the distracting circle or crosshair.

Thank you

Sorry to hear this!

Under Edit > Preferences > Tools there are 2 options, Show Brush Previews and Always Show Brush Crosshair.

The below video shows how these options are designed to work;

With Show Brush Previews selected you will see a 'live preview' of your brush stroke, before it's added to the canvas, with this disabled you will no longer see the 'live preview', simply the shape of the brush nozzle is shown - in my case for a round brush.

With Always Show Brush Crosshair enabled, the brush tool will show a crosshair in the centre of the brush, which will not change regardless of the brush nozzle used. This crosshair may not show if the brush size comparative to the zoom level is not large enough to fit both the nozzle preview and the crosshair, in this case the crosshair is hidden until the brush is made larger or you zoom in further.

I'm certainly sorry to hear you feel this way, this is marked as an 'improvement' option for the Affinity app and is something our devs may look to add in the future.

I hope this clears things up :)
