Join curves is greyed out when it shouldn't be

Weird, I tried and had the same result as @ronanski and tried again and couldn't reproduce it.

Hate that intermittent type of 'bug behaviour'

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4 
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I can only "reproduce" it if after snapping both nodes on top of each other I forgot to select the other curve.
I.e. make sure both curves are selected first (with "white" nodes), then drag over the stacked nodes which you want to join to select both.
