hubob
Dear all, I'm having some problems with the pdf export. I embedded a couple of graphs in a document that Affinity recognizes as vector graphics. However, upon exporting the file in pdf-format the embedded vector graphs get rasterized. Additionally, preview takes a long time to display the graphs with higher detail (showing very pixelated versions first). The same thing happens when I export in EPS format. Is this a bug or am I missing something? I attached the AD file as well as the pdf-export. Thanks a lot for your help! -hubob AD_file.afdesign pdf_export.pdf
hubob
Sorry - I found this thread that basically says it's a known issue (https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/13529-embedded-items-are-always-rasterised/?hl=embed). Do you already have an estimate timeframe for then this might be fixed as it's pretty crucial to my workflow? Thanks a lot!
Dave Harris
The current Customer Beta will export embedded documents as vector, as long as they use the same colour space as the host document, and have a transparent background. You can try the beta now, or wait for the next Mac App Store update in a few months. I just tried it with your sample document. All the documents use sRGB, but I had to make the embedded backgrounds transparent. That step isn't necessary for documents that are inserted with the beta, but is for documents inserted with older versions. With that step done, they did export as vector. anon1
hubob
Brilliant - thanks a lot for your answer! I was using the latest beta but inserted the embedded documents in the app store version....
hubob
I was just wondering whether you could change the behavior of embedded images to adopt the color space/profile and dpi of the target document (e.g., my embedded images were in sRGB but I had to change the color profile manually and they were only displayed at the intended size in the main document when I matched their "dpi" in the embedded document's settings to the target document's)? Thanks!
Dave Harris
That's something I'd like to do, but I don't know when I'll get time to do it. It'd have to be an option, because changing the colour space would change the appearance of the embedded document.
