Wes Smith
First install of Affinity on this computer. iMac, 2013, 32G Ram, Internal NVDIA 780M and External AMD RX570 Photoshop, LR, DXO all work well Affinity will start, but loading any jpeg, tiff or ORF(RAW) file will crash it. Staff Gabe Posted April 21, 2021 Staff Share Posted April 21, 2021 Hi @Wes Smith, Welcome to the forums. Try turning off Hardware Acceleration in Preferences > Performance and see if it's fine
FarFromSane
I"m wes above... I disconnected the Radeon E-GPU and it works on the I-mac I also tried WITH the same e-GPU on my 2015 15" MacBookPro11,4 and it works fine. This machine is 1 MacOS back from the iMac. It's on macOS 10.15.7 (19H114)
Staff Gabe Posted April 22, 2021 Staff Share Posted April 22, 2021 The problem is that your internal GPU is not metal compatible, but your eGPU is. It's just not handling that situation very well.

Photoactive
I've already written on the forums reporting crashes in version 1.9.0. I went back to 1.8.5 (it works fine). Now I'm trying to work on 1.9.2. Unfortunately, it crashes just as often. I tried installing the latest drivers (NVidia) - didn't help. Switching the graphics card to Intel did not improve the situation either. I will try the option suggested here to disable hardware acceleration. FarFromSane
How do we get older versions? I have the Mac AppStore version
Staff Gabe Posted April 26, 2021 Staff Share Posted April 26, 2021 Unless you have a Time Machine backup, you cannot roll back if you have the Mac App Store version. If you had the Affinity store app, you could have got it from here: https://store.serif.com/en-gb/update/macos/photo/1/
mbchau
I have the same issue in Designer 1.9.2 for ios ...😒 The only measure I took was to restart, try images from different sources - to no avail. iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (3rd generation), ios 14.4.2 Edited April 26, 2021 by mbchau
Mable
Hi, I have the same issue but with the windows version. I uploaded 1.9.2 and it crashes every time I try to open any format. Is the fix the same as for iMacs etc?
Staff Gabe Posted April 27, 2021 Staff Share Posted April 27, 2021 Please don't just "bump" an issue with so minimal information. Crashes are, most of the time, specific to a recipe or case. If everyone's app was crashing when opening any file, we would have thousands of reports. @mbchau and @Mable please create a new post using the guide at the top of this link in the correct section of the forum

Photoactive
I've checked and I can confirm - disabling hardware acceleration helps. Affinity Photo does not hang. At least, so far.👍
