How to change the the color of a brown horse to pink?

Recommended Posts

The little girl in the photo below loves the color pink, so I thought I'd change the color of the horse to pink.  I've tried Channel Mixer, HSL, Recolor, and the color replacement brush, to no avail.

Is it possible to change the horse below to a light pink color, while maintaining the shadows and highlights?

-Thanks!

Make a selection of the magical horse and use the selective colour adjustment filter.

If a little girl wants a pink horse, why not go all out and give her a pink unicorn to feed 😊

Actually, I found that her favorite horse is Secretariat, and that she's watched the movie 4 times!  I also asked Emily her favorite color, changed the yellow flowers to pink, and wound up with the composite below.  Emily (My neighbor's kid) was thrilled to say the least!

But thanks for the unicorn horn anyway!  :)

Bless her, simple pleasures eh!

A few details to be aware of for future composite images, because I doubt this will be the last lol!

Not that Emily will notice but...

  1. Visually, put Emily in the same plane as the horse, use the feet to gauge this, Emilys feet can be a bit higher than the horse but not much.
  2. Make small copies of the meadow grass that are hidden behind the shoes and hooves and overlay them over the horses hooves and Emilys shoes, this will make it look like they are stood in the grass not floating on top of the grass, you can erase any surplus, less is more in this instance.

But for now an epic image of emily'etic proportions. 😊

Thanks for the tip.  I used a mask layer to show some of the grass behind the feet, and also used the clone tool to clone some of the grass over the feet.  But Emily and the horse's feet were bothering me.  I'll have to try your suggestion, it looks much better.

I tried making a copy of the grass then moving it over Emily's feet.  I tried changing blend modes, opacity, but can't get it looking right:

Ill make a quick tutorial when I get home later today unless someone else does one before me 😊

In the meantime also try the inpainting brush as it's simpler to use and works well in these instances.image.png.208b75abcf42ee6241ea72d6babd92ec.png Set the hardness between 50-70% and brush over the area to the sides of the shoes and also over the shoes like so...

Thank you!  I never thought of using the inpainting brush tool for this purpose.
