Joachim_L
Welcome to the Affinity forums @phyly! Have a look at the Text Frame panel. If this panel is not visible, make it visible with menu View >> Studio. iconoclast
But you can even drag a frame around the text with a form like the "rectangle tool" or the "ellipse tool". You just need to remove the filling of the form by opening the "Fill"-menu (1) and then clicking on the crossed out circle symbol (2). Also possible, but not if you have a spleen like me wanting to keep it compact and clean. Another rectangle means another item in the Layers panel. ;) Quote ------ Windows 10 | i5-8500 CPU | Intel UHD 630 Graphics | 32 GB RAM | Latest Retail and Beta versions of complete Affinity range installed
phyly
It might be my age or the fact that I am using the trial version but I cannot find the text frame box to move forward. I click the Text Frame Tool but nothing appears.

But you could group it with the textframe. And I think it's a little bit more flexible to handle.

I click the Text Frame Tool but nothing appears. First you have to draw (Click and drag) a text frame with that tool then you can type in the frame. Use the Move (arrow) tool to change the size and or location of the Text Frame once you have drawn it. iconoclast
Or do you mean the textframe panel? If it isn't already opened, you can find it in the "View" menu under "Studio".
phyly
I have a text plus added text but I now want to put a border/frame around it. In studio there is only a text style option and on tool bar not textbox frame button.
Staff MEB Posted April 16, 2021 Staff Share Posted April 16, 2021 Hi @phyly, You have to switch to Publisher Persona (not Designer or Photo Personas), then go to menu View > Studio > Text Frame to display the Text Frame panel. On the General section on top, you can set the Stroke Width and Colour of the text frame (make sure the text frame is selected). iconoclast
As I said, you can also use a normal form as a frame. But the text frame panel should be here...(see the screenshot) The opened panel, you can see on the right side on the top of the panels. phyly
What is Publisher persona?
Staff MEB Posted April 16, 2021 Staff Share Posted April 16, 2021 Click the first orange icon on the main toolbar (after the traffic lights) on the top right of the application interface to switch to Publisher Persona. The screenshot you post above is from the Photo Persona which is the third icon there (the purple one) that why you don't find the Text Frame panel. Each Persona have different menus/tools depending on what you want to do. Publisher Persona (the orange icon) contains all Publisher tools, Designer Persona (the blue icon) contains all mostly vector based tools, and Photo Persona the purple icon) contains mostly raster based tools. iconoclast
On the left side of the interface are three buttons, right below the menu bar. The first one is the Publisher Persona, the second the Designer Persona and the third Photo. You can change with this buttons to the other programs to do f.e. image editing in Photo.
