Cannot search text: Find menu item and Ctrl+F shortcut do nothing

Recommended Posts

I'm using Affinity Publisher on Windows 10. After putting two text frames in a document, linking them, and loading text, I wanted to search.

I have the insertion point blinking in one of the text frames so that I could type if I wanted to--and I think this is when searching should work. But when I use the menu to choose Text > Find or when I press the Ctrl+F shortcut, nothing happens. I think a Search and Replace panel is supposed to open somewhere? But it's not open, it doesn't open, and there doesn't seem to be any way to search for text.

Ctrl+F or Test->Find makes a tabbed Find and Replace pane on the left side of the screen (in the same group of tabs as Pages and Assets) the active pane.

If it is not preset, go to View->Studio and make sure Find and Replace is ticked.

Also, perhaps you have the Left Studio hidden?

View > Studio and make sure that Show Left Studio is enabled, and that Hide Studio is disabled.

Thank you both! I started working the Affinity Publisher weeks ago, but since it's a one-page form I'm designing in my spare time, the Left Studio was just a waste of screen space, so I closed it.

After showing it again, I was able to see the Find and Replace panel. I dragged it to the Right Studio so I can again maximize my document space by hiding the Left Studio.
