Affinity Designer 1.9 - font sizes changing when creating assets

Recommended Posts

I use Affinity Design to create org charts. I created an asset for each person I regularly use in an org chart so I can just drag and drop to create them quickly. When I installed the latest update to Affinity Designer, I lost all the assets I had created. No big deal - I have the org charts and should be able to recreate the assets. However, when I create an asset now, the font sizes of text all changes. Instead of the text being 11 point Arial, it changes to 54.7 points. Help?

Hi @schiffst5 and welcome to the Forums,

Which operating system are you running Affinity on?

I've just tested this in Designer on MacOS and couldn't replicate it.  I test this with a simple test of a rectangle shape and some text at 150pt and created an Assets from it by dragging into the Asset panel as well as using the Add From Selection from the menu on the Asset Panel and the text remained at 150pt.  Even when i use the Asset in a new document, it's still 150pt.

I have the same problem working on AD 1.9.3; MacBook Pro and MacOS 11.3.1

I have created a group which consists of a drawing and text boxes.  When I drag the group to Assets, the image remains the same size, but the text box font changes from 9pt to 12pt-- for each one of my assets where I have text.

I've also noticed that it changes the shape of the font, too.  Even if I return the text to 9pt, the font is no longer the same.

The font in questions is Arial Rounded Bold.

I have no way of correcting this error.  Not sure what workaround exists.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @rcmerino. :)

Is the document DPI/PPI value the same for the destination document as it was for the source document (i.e. the document where you created the asset)?

Hello Alfred,

I had not thought of this.  Yes, they are the same default-- 300 DPI

I've got the same issue on a PC running Affinity Designer version 2.  Would love to figure out what is going on here. THe assets were created in the same document I am working on.  I'm wondering why they go from 18pt from the original objects, but when I drag them on the screen from the assets subgroup them go to a 33.1pt height.
