Lagging while using the pencil tool when zoomed in.

Recommended Posts

I've had Affinity Designer for a month or so now and have been using it to create digital art, often needing to zoom in a lot to create small details. I've never experienced any problems until yesterday and today, when using the pencil tool if I was really zoomed in. I would make the line and then it would be several seconds until the Curve actually appeared. Zoomed out it would appear almost instantly. I just checked my CPU levels when using the pencil tool zoomed in and zoomed out and it's almost at 100 when zoomed in. In the last few minutes the eyedropper tool has also started to lag slightly as I drag it across the screen and when I'm zoomed in and I move the slider in the colour wheel to change the colour it takes a couple of seconds to respond.

I've attached screen records of the pencil and colour change lagging, and a screenshot of the CPU levels.

While I'm not seeing lag to the degree that @Elf Art is I am finding that the pencil tool in Designer 1.9.3 isn't nearly as fluid as it used to be. It's slow to follow, creates more jagged lines (even with an active stabilizer) and doesn't have that feel that I love using the pencil tool in Affinity Designer.

I didn't notice such a big lag either. And I have zoomed in to well over 100,000 percent.

Check, that all drivers and windows are up-to-date. Then deactivate in the designer settings under edit -> preferences -> performance the hardware acceleration.
