fabio.bs
Hey Guys! I saw a tip from blendersecrets which I found very handy. Set an app in blender to quick edit textures. My problem: I've bought Affinity Photo from Microsoft Store. I've set Photo.exe in blender path which didn't work. So I've noticed I can't launch the app directly from microsoftapp's folder (C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\SerifEuropeLtd.AffinityPhoto\Program: photo.exe) It works just clicking in start menu or similar. I Can't find any other folder to set it in blender. *I did the process with affinity designer which I bought from serif store and It works fine. Staff Dan C Posted April 16, 2021 Staff Share Posted April 16, 2021 Hi @fabio.bs, Our sincerest apologies for the delayed response here. I can confirm that you need to 'Take Ownership' of the WindowsApps folder for this to work, as other user on the forums have used the below linked method to successfully launch Affinity as an external editor from Lightroom, I certainly hope this should resolve your issue also - https://www.maketecheasier.com/access-windowsapps-folder-windows-10/ I hope this helps Quote Please Note: I am now out of the office until Tuesday 2nd April on annual leave. fabio.bs
@Dan C thanks for answering. Unfortunately it didn't work for blender or even launch the app from windowapp's folder. It seems I own the folder as well as trustedInstaller.
Staff Dan C Posted April 17, 2021 Staff Share Posted April 17, 2021 No problem at all and I'm sorry to hear this hasn't helped! Please see the below 2 threads, each of which offers a different possible solution when linking the Microsoft Store apps with third party programs as I hope one of these may help: Take Ownership REG, although you have tried the above method some users find this does not work correctly and use the REG keys provided to add a context menu option to force 'Take Ownership' - Shell Path instead of absolute, as you've mentioned above, launching the direct .exe from the folder is not working as expected, so instead you can try using a Shell:AppsFolder\ path as outlined below - I hope this helps once again!
