Shlomo
When trying to save my file on Windows 10 (last affinity version 1.9.2), the program says that saving has failed because it has no access to the file any more. Really strange, since I am in the opened file while trying to save it. I have to close Affinity Publisher, open it again, write 1 word, save, close the program, open it again, write another word, etc. - everything that goes beyond 1 word will simply crash the program. What can I do to fix this? Everything worked quite well for 1 month, but since 1 week it keeps crashing on all kinds of different activities. Occasionally it says that it lost the connection to the image files in the ressource manager. Thanks for your help.
Staff Jon P Posted March 31, 2021 Staff Share Posted March 31, 2021 Could you upload the file here, I'll see if I can reproduce it with your file Quote Serif Europe Ltd. - www.serif.com
Shlomo
I uploaded the file, but I dont know if the image files are included. The last times I tried to open the file it simply crashed before the file was even opened in affinity.
Shlomo
Hi @Jon P, I created a new file and started to build it from zero, but at some point, the same problem arose again and I can't continue to finally finish it. It's impossible to save or to work on it. Affinity is simply crashing and keeps giving me funny messages about what's impossible to do. Any news on this? It's 2 weeks already that I am wasting with this issue.
Staff Jon P Posted April 7, 2021 Staff Share Posted April 7, 2021 Hi @Shlomo, Both the files you've uploaded seem to save fine for me. I'm curious since it mentions losing the links to some of the files in resource manager and them being in dropbox could maybe be the cause. Can you try embedding all the linked files and seeing if that saves correctly? Are you able to save as package? Shlomo
Hi @JohnP, I embedded the linked files and moved everything to the main drive - this improved the performance of affinity a lot, but still, I lost another 2 weeks trying to get it exporting the whole project into one file. What I have found out is that affinity works perfectly if the file size doesn't exceed about 10 mb. I wasn't able to save as package at all in the beginning, but now I split my file into 5 little parts and exporting is possible for now, but it is still not the best option of course, since it makes everything quite complicated, especially when it comes to page numbering etc.
