TangoTL Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 I am using Designer to trace shape using the pencil tool. After creating a couple lines, I go back and join the lines together to create one large outline. However, after the 2nd or 3rd join, the app crashes and you lose all of your progress Quote
Staff Sean P Posted March 30, 2021 Staff Posted March 30, 2021 Hi TangoTL, We do have a similar issue logged, but it is file specific. I've tried it myself on a few simple curves and not getting a crash. Would you be able to attach a copy of the file you're using to reproduce the crash please, and if possible get a screen recording showing the steps you're taking to reproduce the crash. Quote
TangoTL Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 (edited) The screen capture file is too large to attach, so I’ve tried to link to my google drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kzN-F-qwY3_jbRnwluX75o4LGwh0zKIa/view?usp=drivesdk. It always succeeds on the first join, but will subsequently crash on any attempt afterwards. The file is: REMOVED Edited March 30, 2021 by TangoTL Quote
Staff Sean P Posted March 30, 2021 Staff Posted March 30, 2021 Thanks for the video, Unfortunately I'll need the afdesign file with the actual curves in. Are you able to draw the curves as shown in the video, but prior to joining them return to the home screen and then Save the file from the preview's menu button (just to the right of the size and colour mode). TangoTL Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 (edited) Sean, here is a link to the AF file: REMOVED I can draw the curves in the video using an Apple Pencil. I have tried going to the Home Screen and saving the file. As a work-around, I've just been saving the file, opening it on my Window's machine running designer, joining the lines, saving to google drive and then opening it on my iPad to continue tracing. I was hoping to save a step by joining the lines on the iPad, but no such luck yet. If you open the attached AF file, joining any one of those curves will cause the app to crash back to the homepage. Staff Sean P Posted March 30, 2021 Staff Posted March 30, 2021 Thanks for that - unfortunately its not allowing me access to that file. If it makes things any easier, I've created a link to upload to our Internal Dropbox account to use to upload it to https://www.dropbox.com/request/y9F8zfD2Tzo6tU87UyBH Quote
TangoTL Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 I've uploaded the file to the dropbox (thank you for that). The file should contain an image with several "pencil curves" drawn over top. Those are the ones that I am having issues with. I also tested on my MacBook, I can join the lines with no issues on the MacBook and on my Windows machine. Only crashes on the iPad. Sean P 1 Quote
Staff Sean P Posted April 1, 2021 Staff Posted April 1, 2021 Thanks for the file, I've reproduced this and passed it on to development. It does indeed look like the same issue. Quote
TangoTL Posted November 29, 2021 Author Posted November 29, 2021 Hey, I just wanted to check back in. It appears that this bug is still is doing the same thing. Any chance you have a status? Thanks! Quote
Morio Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 It seems that this still is an issue. iPad Air 2022, latest iOS and latest designer. Any idea when this be fixed? Crashes after a few joins with an Apple Pencil. Thanks!! Lake project.afdesign Quote
iuli Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 Hi @Morio, I just tried on my iPad Pro M1 which has similar specs with the Air 2022 and there’s no issues. If you didn’t figure it out already, you probably should try a force restart as shown here: A short video proof that I had no crashes below; all the best!
