raphaelschoenberger Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Hello, I created a file in Affinity Publisher on Mac and used the Font 'Avenir Next Condensed'. When I open the project on the Windows PC the program does not apply the right font although I installed the Avenir Next Condensed Font (entire font family). What can I do here instead of manually change all text to the font? Quote
Joachim_L Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Welcome to the Affinity forums @raphaelschoenberger! To my experience the fonts name may vary on different platforms although they should be the same. So you can edit the font or make a Find & Replace for the font, which you have to revert when you open the document on Mac again. Perhaps our specialist here @LibreTraining has a better idea? raphaelschoenberger Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 Hello Joachim_L, thank you very much, the method Find & Replace is very useful. I never thought of this and didn't think it even is possible with Fonts, I used to do this with text. It helps a lot even though it would be really nice, if there would be a way to edit projects in Windows and Mac without having to deal with those font issues. Quote

And that may be confusing APub when moving between operating systems. On my phone at the moment so trying to remember ... Light is in its own style group with Medium if I remember correctly. And the other style group includes Book rather than Regular IIRC. Which styles are you using in the document? And did you use the Bold button, or Italic button at any time? Can you attach the original Mac version of the document? I would like to see exactly what happens when opened on Windows APub. Quote
kenmcd Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 On my laptop now ... sorta remembered the issue(s) ... Avenir LT Std was the first one I was thinking of, it has two R/I/B/BI style groups, but it is Roman, not Book. Style group 1: 55 Roman, 55 Oblique, 85 Heavy, 85 Heavy Oblique Style group 2: 65 Medium, 65 Medium Oblique, 95 Black, 95 Black Oblique Not your usual Regular-based R/I/B/BI style group(s). Avenir Next LT Pro also has two R/I/B/BI style groups, but different. Style group 1: Regular, Italic, Demi, Demi Italic Style group 2: Medium, Medium Italic, Bold, Bold Italic Again, not your usual Regular-based R/I/B/BI style group(s). These may be confusing APub when moving between operating systems. @Joachim_L - are you on a Mac? This has come-up before. I would like to make a test document with all the styles selected by (1) typographic family & font style, and then also by (2) style groups, where the base font is specified and then only the Bold and Italic buttons are used to select the other styles. Then test this doc on both Mac and Windows, and transferring between operating systems, and Export to PDF.But we need some Mac volunteers. Just installed Avenir Next LT Pro (new laptop is still under construction getting everything installed). Will create the test doc and test it on Windows 10 (after installing the new APub!). @raphaelschoenberger - do you also have the Condensed installed; are they also used? Quote
Joachim_L Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 @LibreTraining, sorry my Mac-Days are long ago. Quote ------ Windows 10 | i5-8500 CPU | Intel UHD 630 Graphics | 32 GB RAM | Latest Retail and Beta versions of complete Affinity range installed
