How to see through shape(eye) of pixel layer to two background layers

Recommended Posts

I have to three layers in Affinity photo and the top layer is a pixel layer which I used fill white paint to fill a man's silhouette. I would like to basically give him two eyes that are shaped like eyes but you can see the background two layers underneath, how would be the best way to do this? I have tried using the eraser on the white paint but that is not working. I tried the selector tool to draw the shape of the eyes on the two background layers but then could not copy and paste that over. Thanks

Hi Laura,

you may use one or multiple vector shapes (like crescend tool), set the blend mode to "erase", and clip it to the fill layer (drag it to the name of the layer, here "Fill")

You could put the white silhouette layer into a group, then use the ellipse tool to create two eyes and add them to the group above the white silhouette layer, then change the eye shapes blend mode to erase.

By placing them into a group you are limiting the effect of the erase blend mode to that group
