Greg Bicky
Dear Patrick, Is there any disadvantage in using Infinity Photo 1.9.1 update in a MacBook Pro mid-2009 Desktop, apart from not being able to use special effects, such as snow, etc.? Would the functionality be affected -- like speed of operation? Regards, Greg Edited March 27, 2021 by canterford Clarity
Staff Patrick Connor Posted March 27, 2021 Staff Share Posted March 27, 2021 @canterford Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums The hardware requirements for Affinity Photo are on the Tech Specs page of the marketing site. Check the processor speed and memory on that hardware carefully . Even if it is "sufficient" it may be near the minimum and so yes it may be significantly slower than a more modern machine. Thanks Patrick. It looks like there is reasonable leeway to use 1.9.1 in my MacBook Pro, judging by the "Tech Specs". We shall see how things go. I could reinstall 1.9 if speed affected. I assume that I am able to download 1.9 in the future if required -- is this correct? 1.9.1 appears to have fixed some bugs, judging by posted information with update, so I shall use it. If I need the latest effects, like dust, snow, etc., my iPad will create image, then I can transfer to MacBook Pro for final composition. Staff Patrick Connor Posted March 28, 2021 Staff Share Posted March 28, 2021 @canterford There's a 90 day trial at the moment from our website, and 1.9.2 with more bug fixes is due out very soon. I don't think you will need to revert to 1.9.0, but yes, when bought directly from Serif you can choose to install earlier versions (not true if bought from the Mac app store which tries to keep you on the latest version) Greg Bicky 1 Quote Patrick Connor Serif Europe Ltd Latest V2 releases on each platform Help make our apps better by joining our beta program!
