Please, please, please... add Bitmap Mode

Recommended Posts

Dear Affinity programmers,

I am quite sure that you know all the reasons that people want you to add Bitmap Mode, aka 1-bit color, to Affinity Photo, but here's the brief synopsis: works created on paper must be scanned and adjusted in a photo program. That includes calligraphy, illustrations, cartoons, and more. Bitmap mode is needed to engravers, platemakers, etchers, and is often needed in layout programs for spot color assignments. I am not a programmer and have no idea how hard it is to add bitmap mode, or to just turn off antialiasing. But I wish you would do it. I want to make Affinity Photo my primary photo editing app, and I can't, because I need bitmap mode. This is really important to me.  Please add bitmap mode. Please!

+1, of course…
…but until then, here's an Affinity 1-bit workflow that will get you there now:

Skip any steps

MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
