Crop according to selection

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I am in the same case as San Lee. I bought the license with pleasure, because you seem to me a company that does things well, but I was surprised not to find the "crop" function with a single mouse click. Even Microsoft Paint has that feature, because it is really useful and necessary. In my case I use "crop" hundreds of times a day when editing photos or whatever and without that one-click command Affinity Photo slows down my workflow a lot. I thought this command wouldn't be missing in Affinity Photo and I've been flabbergasted. That's my only suggestion at the moment to get me to use this software more often.

Thanks anyway.

I'll echo the sentiment of everyone above.  I could care less if there are 100 different other ways to work around it.  The is no legitimate reason this shouldn't be implemented.  It would ease the transition for users from other software and it wouldn't adversely impact any existing functionality.

I actually would like a refund on my purchase of this software at this point.  I didn't purchase software for it to make my workflow slower.

With the Black Friday sale, I was tempted to purchase Designer and Publisher, but given this issue, I'm extremely skeptical about what other basic functionality that those may be missing!!!

As said before, the missing "crop to selection" feature is a glaring miss and should be implemented. The "fix" of snapping the crop tool to a selection takes 4 steps instead of the 2 it would take if "crop to selection" was available. I'm happy to learn the ways of Affinity, unless it takes more time, clicks or mousing. If nothing else, the feature should be there so folks can work the way they find most efficient, not how Serif or Adobe dictate. Please, Please implement "Crop to (mask) Selection".

Hi @CardGuy and welcome to the forums. Serif has added crop to selection in the 2.1 beta that just started.

That's amazing news. Just a shame it didn't come during the 50% window. I know I'm going to sound super ungrateful now, but I can't justify £70 just to get this one feature. Would have (and still would) bought the £35 "upgrade" without hesitation, though!

Really glad to see this coming, though!

Apparently it's in 2.1 but I can't speak to the implementation as it wasn't there in 2.0 so I did not buy 2.0 and there's no upgrade pricing. Affinity Photo is great value, don't get me wrong, but I'm not really keen to pay £70 for one feature.

Edit: Apparently I said this 3 months ago and forgot.

But now you can get a 25% discount on Photo 2 that you couldn't get then :)
