AD Version 1.9.1, MacOS 11.2.3

Trying to track down issue of sidecar constantly freezing, which Apple recommends testing by booting into Safe Mode, which I've done. But when I open an AD file, or create a new one, all I see is the background, nothing else.

This is what I see when I create a letter-size document…which doesn't seem to want to upload. Anyway, it's just the dark gray background.

I can create objects, paint with the vector brush, but all I see of them is the outline when selected. I don't see the objects themselves other than in the Layer panel.

Same happens with latest AP.

Okay, never mind. Found out the problem is that the graphics system is shut down in Safe Mode, which is also why the entire system ran so painfully slowly.

I assume AD & AP have some need of graphics hardware.

I remember when starting a Mac in Safe mode used to speed things up. Like back in System 9.

Hi skmwrp,

I was just about to respond to you. There is definitely no access to the GPU/Metal on my MBP when I look, so it is to be expected sort of.

You can actually switch Affinity to use 'Software' rendering which will allow you see view a document should you still need look into your sidecar issues.
