black squares/oblongs when exporting photos

I upgraded to the latest version and since doing so I am getting black squares and oblongs on my photos  sometimes white ones and various shapes and numbers.   This is when I export them as a jpeg file if I save using affinity file then the problem does not occur.

I have also de selected the hardware acceleration on windows as is sometimes recommended  and that has not made any difference.

You said it still gives you trouble when you unticking Enable OpenCL compute acceleration in Affinity, Preferences, Performance section? Can you attach the afphoto file for fas to check please? I can provide an upload link if you wish to keep the file private - just let me know.

No not in affinity I went to settings on windows and then to graphics and then I unchecked Hardware acceleration and that has not made any difference. How do I untick Enable Open CL compute acceleration in affinity.  Where do I start?

In Affinity Photo go to menu Edit > Preferences, Performance section and untick Enable OpenCL compute acceleration on the bottom. Restart the app and try to export the file as jPG again. Does it still display those black squares?

Thanks, I have done that and I have so far exported 2 files in jpeg without any black squares so it may be fixed. I will do some more today and keep my fingers crossed.

I have the same problem but with jpeg files created in Affinity designer - can you please help with that? they turn completely blackWhen i open the Jpeg it is visible but immediately turns black.

I have tried altered the Hardware Acceleration button in the preferences with no effect. Exporting still results in the black box and all of the drawings that I have created using Affinity open for a second and then turn black. Exporting to png or pdf works fine but not jpgs.

The jpgs seem to open in other applications but will not open properly in Microsoft Photos. It is only the Affinity Files that don't open properly in Microsoft Photos I have no trouble with photographic images. I am using Windows 10.

Hi I am sympathetic to your problem but I cant help except to say contact the Affinity team, they were very good when I had problems and held my hand as I went through it and now I have no problems touch wood. Good luck.

This just happened to me but the solution of turning off the Enable OpenCL compute acceleration in Preferences worked. However, my boxes were not black, rather, they were a darker shade of the image under them, though they appear to be the size and shape of the OP's artifacts. This happens with just Jpeg exports as far as I can tell. Is this being investigated?
