App keeps crashing and losing files

iPad air 3, Affinity Designer 1.9.7

App keeps crashing, especially just after I open a file and turn off the checkbox to check spelling, also sometimes when I switch from my browser to the Affinity app.

After using and closing a file, when I reopen the file later sometimes there is an earlier version of the file, causing loss of up to an hour of work.

If I "save as" to the cloud and try to open the file later, there is an error message saying the file type is not supported.

...which means that it's very easy to lose your work, so what's the point?
