expanded fills disappear when using divide boolean

After tracing an object with the pen tool, expanding the stokes to fills and then dividing them all with the divide boolean, some parts disappear. Selecting all and expanding a second or third time does not seem to make a difference.

@Sean P thanks. Love Designer for so many things - including pen tool tracing, but boolean operations feel like the achilles heel right now. The issues with getting clean merges and divides and the resulting dirty nodes and/or pieces disappearing and the lack of a boolean tool that acts the way Illustrator's "merge" tool does in pathfinder hold back Designer. I'm hoping these things are included as big improvements in vs 2.0

In regards to this situation I posted about - It may be that some part is not fully expanded, etc. If that is the case, it's not for thorough select-all and expand attempts.
