Enjoyed Drawplus, thought I would buy the new version, but lags...

Recommended Posts

Hello, Why is the program lagging so much on using brushes, especially watercolors and acrylics?

I have a Lenovo Legion 530 laptop: Intel i7 8750H, 16gb ram, and GTX 1050ti graphics with the newest windows update and current drivers. Does the program require higher specs? Just using a simple brush makes my cpu go to 100% as you can see, after mere moments. Is this a problem with the program or specs? Thanks.

Still looking for answers to my question. If anyone can inform me if this lag that I show in the screen record is normal for my specs? If it is, what specs, cpu/gpu, would be needed to prevent the lag? (They aren't listed on the requirements, even though my laptop meets all the requirements listed.) And if it's not normal, what can I do to resolve it? Thanks.

Hi Anthony - since you don't mention it, I wonder if you've maybe overlooked the Performance options in Designer's Preferences?  Take a note of your current settings so you can revert in case tinkering makes things worse rather than better.

I did another video showing my performance setting; I adjusted the ram, which made no real difference. I have hardware acceleration on. I made sure to display the whole task manager and close out of all other programs. It wasn't doing as bad this time; my computer had a NVidia update yesterday, but there's still a weird lag, even on smaller lines. If you can view the video screen shot, can you tell me if my computer is performing right for the specs? When you draw the lines, there is like a weird lag while you see the brush changes, then there is a broader rope window than there should be and it trails off and fades. I'm not sure if that's just the nature of the program or not. My gpu barely elevates at all; it seems like it's all cpu intensive. Thanks.

That appears to be because you have the Stabilizer function enabled in the contextr toolbar.

No, if I have anything else running but Affinity, everything will lag worse than it already is, even without stabilizer on.

Watch, (see vid).

Clearly, Intel i7-8750H isn't good enough for the program. I thought the processer wasn't that bad, but Affinity seems to require a higher one for good performance, which doesn't make sense to me.

Perhaps, this app is marketed at people with dedicative creative systems who use desktops? People with the latest and greatest hardware? I don't know. The Cpu is the program for me; I'm positive about that, now. When My CPU goes 100%, the strokes start to lag and performance diminishes, which only happens after like 3-5 seconds.
