Super SLOW with very large file. How to increase render speed

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I'm working on huge mechanical drawings where I need to make measurements of different elements.

Unforntunately, Designer is SUPER SLOW at even the most basic tasks of scrolling and selecting.

Since the drawing is imported from PDF, it's not really grouped so that I can turn off unnecessarily large parts within the drawing.

Will hiding parts with empty boxes help? If not, what can I do? It's taking 45 seconds to redraw the canvas after I zoom or scroll.

Thanks,

@AaplMike Is Designer up to date (1.9.1) can you check the apps Preferences > Performance and see which options are currently being used.

If you're on Windows and have Hardware Acceleration enabled (OpenCL) try turning off. Same applies to macOS if you have Metal enabled.

Hi,

we recently had a similar report complaining about bad performance.

I got far better performance by exporting from pdf to esp using Adobe Acrobat.

Iterating another time reduced even the file size.

Performance increasing from >20 minutes to open (aborted) to about 2 minutes (success).

The file contained ~700 000 layers, all planes were build by countless overlapping lines of small stroke width.
