Hey all. I'm working on huge mechanical drawings where I need to make measurements of different elements.

Unforntunately, Designer is SUPER SLOW at even the most basic tasks of scrolling and selecting.

Since the drawing is imported from PDF, it's not really grouped so that I can turn off unnecessarily large parts within the drawing.

Will hiding parts with empty boxes help? If not, what can I do? It's taking 45 seconds to redraw the canvas after I zoom or scroll.

Thanks,

@AaplMike Is Designer up to date (1.9.1) can you check the apps Preferences > Performance and see which options are currently being used.

If you're on Windows and have Hardware Acceleration enabled (OpenCL) try turning off. Same applies to macOS if you have Metal enabled.

You did not state how much memory your systems has, and how much Designer is using. It may well be that your system is swapping to disk because it doesn't have enough RAM. Adding more RAM may help, you can never have too much RAM.

I have the same issue for large files, using a mac pro with 32 GB memory. A total of 24 GB memory is being used. Only about 10% of CPU is used. Any other solutions?

Using affinity design version 1.10.4.

Thanks,

Hi,

we recently had a similar report complaining about bad performance.

I got far better performance by exporting from pdf to esp using Adobe Acrobat.

Iterating another time reduced even the file size.

Performance increasing from >20 minutes to open (aborted) to about 2 minutes (success).

The file contained ~700 000 layers, all planes were build by countless overlapping lines of small stroke width.

I use iPad screenshots and videos even in the Desktop section of the forum when I expect no relevant difference.
