Ladybugman Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 (edited) Hello, I also have the same problem, I have the same setting as in the pictures, but it doesn't want to start, what else should I do. Edited March 15, 2021 by Ladybugman Quote
Dan C Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Hi @Ladybugman, Welcome to the Affinity forums I don't believe your issue is related to the thread you have posted in, so I have split this post a separate thread - please ensure you are 'following' the thread in the top right of the page if you wish to be notified of replies. In regards to the issue you're reporting, can you please expand on the behaviour you're seeing? Does the app open at all, or do you simply see the splash screen which then closes and the Affinity app never opens? Do you see any error messages on screen at all? Many thanks in advance! Quote
Ladybugman Posted March 15, 2021 Author Posted March 15, 2021 (edited) Hi Dan C, When I double-click on publisher.exe or designer.exe, the start screen opens for a moment and then closes again, otherwise nothing happens. I also reinstalled the program, it all started after I installed the new Windows 10 20H2 update. Edited March 15, 2021 by Ladybugman Quote
Dan C Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Many thanks for confirming that for me! I suspect this issue is caused by Hardware Acceleration (a new feature for Windows), so we'll start by updating your GPU drivers. Please visit the manufactures link below to download the latest driver available - - Intel: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html - Nvidia: https://www.geforce.com/drivers - AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-driver-autodetect Note: you may need to go direct to your PC manufactures website for the driver, if you see a warning regarding 'OEM drivers' when trying to install one from the above sites. Once downloaded and installed, please restart your computer and then launch the Affinity app again. Does the app now launch as expected for you? Quote
Ladybugman Posted March 15, 2021 Author Posted March 15, 2021 I've checked it now and all the drivers are updated, but the problem still persists. I have installed the previous version 1.8.5 and the one that works. Quote
Dan C Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 Thanks for letting me know, I suspect this is Hardware Acceleration causing this issue if 1.8.5 is working for you - our developers are currently working on a beta version where this hopefully should not crash for any users on start-up due to Hardware Acceleration. If you wish, you can try this beta version linked below (this can be installed alongside your retail version, so that you have 2 versions of the app installed) - Does this beta version launch as expected for you? If you don't wish to use this beta version then you are welcome to continue using version 1.8.5 until we release 1.9.2 to retail. I hope this helps! Ladybugman 1 Quote
Ladybugman Posted March 16, 2021 Author Posted March 16, 2021 Hi, I will continue to use the 1.8.5 version first, just be on the safe side and wait until the new update is out. But thanks for your help. Dan C 1 Quote
