AiDon
Hi, AP isn't able to stitch a panorama from these two images and it may be because of the small overlap; I can stitch it in Hugin and get this result: I can upload the images if you can use them to improve the recognition algorithm. Staff Chris B Posted March 15, 2021 Staff Share Posted March 15, 2021 Hi Don, It might be that Hugin require a smaller overlap area than we do. I'd be happy to receive the images if you want to upload? Alfred
After recreating the two images from the Hugin result I tried to stitch them together in APh on iPad. Instead of invoking the expected ‘No Panoramas Found’ error message, the app appeared to spend several seconds doing nothing at all. AiDon
Let me upload them because recreating would be difficult. Give me 5. AiDon
OK, you can download the ZIP from here, it is just for your info as it is a small overlap although CS6 will stitch it: DropBox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/acdgjgwmlzm708p/A7302366-A7302367.zip?dl=0 Sorry I don't have the iPad version ... I'm waiting to get it. 😉 Don. Alfred 1 Quote Both PC’s Win 11 x64 System with Intuos Pen & Touch PC1 ASUS ROG Strix - AMD Ryzen 9 6900X CPU @ 3.3GHz. 32GB RAM- GPU 1: AMD Radeon integrated. Old Bruce
I think part of the problem is the too tiny overlap, but there is also the change in the location from which the two photos were taken. You get a perspective problem happening. I sliced the pictures into tall narrow images with more relative overlap so I had 6 instead of 2 to load into Photo's Panorama and got a result (not great because of the perspective change) fairly quickly. AiDon
There is no change in location, also if you read the thread Hugin and CS6 don’t have a problem in processing the series. In fact this is part of a series of 8 images and only the first doesn’t fit because of the small overlap between 1 & 2. Staff Chris B Posted March 16, 2021 Staff Share Posted March 16, 2021 Hey AiDon, As Old Bruce says, they don't line up well enough for Affinity to be able to stitch it. You can see the issue where those middle posts are. Reduce the opacity on one and lay them over each other and you will see. I don't think this is a bug, it's just that Affinity isn't able to process the stitch due to the differences—it would be more of an improvement request, just because the other app can do it. Agreed, Chris, but I think my related issue observed in the iPad version is a bug: 22 hours ago, Alfred said: After recreating the two images from the Hugin result I tried to stitch them together in APh on iPad. Instead of invoking the expected ‘No Panoramas Found’ error message, the app appeared to spend several seconds doing nothing at all. There should always be some kind of feedback if the app can’t stitch the images. AiDon
As I mentioned it was only to let you know that AP cannot stitch it but other Apps can. No issue for me because other apps can stitch it 😊 just heads up.
