Miri Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 (edited) Hi, I just started using the 90 Day trial of Affinity Photo on my new microsoft surface pro 7, not expecting any problems. But it crashes the moment I load a picture. It feels like I tried everything mentioned here: Updating the graphics drivers manually Uninstall - Reinstall Checking the hardware acceleration which is checked off in the settings and also the right command line (False) is there. I wanted to try the beta but couldn´t access it with my 90 day trial code. The Log says: [DXCore] Error 0x80004002 (298): Failed to create adapter factory! [DXCore] Error 0x80004002 (298): Failed to create adapter factory! [DXCore] Error 0x80004002 (298): Failed to create adapter factory! Installed Wintab: Failed to load Wintab32.dll Wintab: Failed to create tablet context Exit I attached the crash reports as well. I would really appreciate help with this. I wanted to buy the complete affinity suite but it if doesn´t run on the surface, I can´t make use of it. Thanks. Mark Ingram Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 Hi @Miri, I've looked at the crash dumps, and unfortunately I can only see that it's crashing inside .NET somewhere. The log file you provided shows a clean startup and shutdown (the "Exit" on the last line indicates shutdown was OK, and not a crash). Do you have a log file from the crash itself? Quote
Miri Posted March 12, 2021 Author Posted March 12, 2021 (edited) Hi @Mark Ingram thanks for looking into it! Where would I find a crash log file? I tried to repair the .NET Framework before but the repairtool is very cryptic I can't make sense of it. I am not even sure if it finds a problem or not. If I just run it and let it repair things nothing changes and affinity still doesn't work afterwards. I don't know if I should just uninstall and reinstall .NET Framework, I am not sure if that's safe? It's a new computer and I don't want to do anything that will corrupt warranty. What do you think? Miri Posted March 13, 2021 Author Posted March 13, 2021 It seems to be working now. The Intel Driver Service Updater Thing I had installed yesterday just gave me a fresh new update and now Affinity Photo seems to be working. So I recommend, anyone with Intel Graphics who still has the problem should try to update their graphic drivers again. Quote
