Hi, I encountered this problem two days ago (10 March 2021). When I open and begin to work in Affinity Publisher (version 1.9.1.979), my entire system grinds to a standstill. Affinity Publisher itself becomes extremely slow (e.g. it took 30 minutes to export a 44 page document to PDF yesterday), and all other running programs become unresponsive. For example, when I try to switch to other running programs such as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Outlook and Google Chrome, they all have a 'Not Responding' message in the title bar. Affinity Publisher frequently hangs with a 'Not Responding' message in the title bar (see attached image), and the program often closes and reopens when I try to switch between programs. If I do not open Publisher, my computer runs normally.

My system details are as follows:

Windows 10 Home (Version 20H2 / OS Build 19042.867)

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz

Installed RAM: 8.00 GB

System Type: 64-bit

PS: Prior to 10 March 2021, this problem had not surfaced in any form. Publisher was running perfectly, and it did not impact the performance of other programs.

Hi stokerg, and thanks for the welcome to the forum 🙂

Unfortunately, I am still experiencing this issue with 1.9.2.1035

I mainly develop A5 Learner Guides (typically 44 pages in length) with photos on every page (typically around 300MB combined). I do not embed the photos - I only ever link them, so the Publisher document itself rarely gets any larger than 5MB.

When I opened one of the Learner Guides this morning and started scrolling through the pages, Publisher became unresponsive within about 15 seconds, then closed and reopened three times. I had Microsoft Outlook and File Explorer running at the same time, and they too became unresponsive.
