Recommended Posts

[English version below]

Hallo zusammen,

Danke!

Hello everyone,

I am creating plans and graphics for digital presentations (architecture). The following problem occured: I set the desired colors in Affinity Designer with the HEX code. When I export the graphic, it is always exported with more gaudy colors than actually set. I need PNG, JPEG and PDF formats. With all formats, with all conceivable settings I have already tried around. The program, the document and in the export have the same RGB settings and ICC profiles. For a while, the setting Recalculate: Lanczos 3 brought out the desired color when exporting as a PNG file. Oddly enough, even that only works once in a while. Since I don't know much about color settings and ICC profiles, I hope someone here can help me out! Attached is a screenshot from Affinity Designer (using the Windows desktop app) and a sample of the exported graphic. The colors I wanted were: 000000 (black), AED9E0 (light blue) and D36135 (red). Out came black, AED9E2 and D76436.

I would be happy if someone recognizes my problem and helps me! Thanks!

Willkommen auf den Affinity-Foren / Welcome to the Affinity forums @ravelsbolero!

I made a quick test with your colours and opened it in PS CS6 and the colours were the same. How do you know, that the colours differ? And could you upload a sample AD file?

Hello and thank you for the quick reply!

I have noticed the color difference several times in the past by eye. I then determined the discrepancy exactly again earlier by exporting a PNG file, then opening this PNG in AD and using the eyedropper to determine the HEX code. Thereby the deviation was confirmed to me. After your message I just opened the PNG in Affinity Publisher and lo and behold: In the program the PNG has the correct color (again tested with the eyedropper). Then I opened the PNG again in Affinity Designer and suddenly there is no color difference here either! But since I can see a color difference in the PNG opened on the desktop and could also detect it with the eyedropper earlier when I asked my question, I also threw the PNG into a PowerPoint presentation again and here the color difference is clearly visible - I inserted a rectangle with the desired hue for comparison (see attached PowerPoint file as well as screenshot and PDF-export of the same).

I can't make any sense of this.... Maybe it has nothing to do with the Affinity programs, but with how the files are displayed to me when I open them outside Affinity? But shouldn't there be any difference in PowerPoint in that case? In addition, I need the desired color in PowerPoint for my presentations. Strangely enough, the color difference was also measurable in AD at first. I am completely confused.

Thanks a lot for your help.
