cgidesign
Hi, using Photo 1.9.1 on win 64. I loaded a 32 bit HDR image with 24 EV range (it is used as global illumination source in a 3D render engine and does not need to be converted back to SDR). I want to edit it and like to monitor luminance distribution using scope -> intensity waveform Unfortunately the waveform Y axis clips at value 100 while the HDR image goes way beyond that. Question 1: Is it possible to calibrate the Scope panel to show the full range of the loaded image? Question 2: The curve adjustment allows a max of 100 as well. Is it possible to increase it so the extreme highlights of the HDR file can be adjusted? Question 3: The size of the panels seems to be fixed (even when undocked) and cannot be scaled. Is it possible to increase the size as it would help to better analyze and edit the image? Question 4: Am I maybe missunderstanding the HDR concept in Affinity and asking the wrong questions? Thanks for help.
Staff Chris B Posted May 26, 2021 Staff Share Posted May 26, 2021 Hey anim, Question 1 The Scope Panel doesn't account for unbounded values at present - it's useful for bounded non-linear images but not really useful for unbounded linear. Question 2 Going past 100 in unbounded is probably far too bright and I'm not entirely sure why this is necessary? Question 3 I remember a time where we could pan around inside (which I think was a bug) but I do not recall being able to resize it. I will have to check this for you. Question 4 I don't think you're asking the wrong questions but the Scope Panel is perhaps not overly useful for 32 bit unbounded images and as I said before, I'm not entirely sure what surpassing 100 in the Curves would achieve for unbounded.
