I´m not able to open / develop Nikon RAW files (.nef) taken with a z7. Have I missed something? Do I have to change some settings? Is it a bug? :-((

Hi Chris!

When I try to open a .nef file Affinity Photo shows me a the meta data from the image(file & image size; camera & lens type)  but the image is pure black (screenshot).

Using the Apple Core RAW converter works fine ... thanks for the ´tuxedo hint´ ... I didn't know that I can change this.

Posting a .nef file is critical, because all the images are not mine. I'm a professional retoucher and I work with images from my clients. But I attached a screenshot of the meta data take in Adobe Bridge.

Is there a problem with the Serif Labs converter?

Affinity exits without warning when opening .nef files or .rw2 files or Fuji raw files...
I've not noticed this issue before I've tried with 1.8.5, 1.8.4  and 1.9.1

I was under the impression that Affinity photo is capable of opening raw files...

I think I just solved the problem. I installed Adobe DNG converter earlier today (standalone). I just completely removed it from the system and I'm no longer having any issues. All files are opening as they should.

I don't think this should be a problem though... something like this needs to be fixed.

Hi. I don't think it would be possible to attach a specific file because the program failed with every single raw file I tried to open. That includes .raf, .nef, .rw2 files. I tried about a dozen from cameras of varying years of production (as early as 2014). I tried three different versions of Affinity as well (1.7, 1.8, 1.9). None worked, which led me to suspect system specific issues. Then I uninstalled Adobe DNG converter (it wasn't registered in the system uninstall menu, so I manually deleted it and purged the system of null registry keys just in case). The result is that Affinity is opening all raw files without issue.

Perhaps the issue is WHEN the Adobe DNG converter is installed... or what version of it is installed. Sorry if I can't be of help.

I have the same issue with the files of my Z6 ii. The picture is shown just in black. The files of my D750 are shown properly.
So i guess it does not depend on the DNG converter (which is installed on my computer).

So i would be very happy, if you could solve my issue.

With best regards,
