Copy Flattened Issue

Recommended Posts

I'm having an issue with Affinity Photo 1.9.1.969 (from Windows Store) when attempting to modify layers by either rasterizing or using the copy flattened feature. I've had a ton of crashing issues since the automated update, which I thought were an issue with my computer. I opted to upgrade to a new Windows system with the following hardware specs:

  • Windows 10.0.19042 Build 19042
  • Intel i7-10510cpu, 2304mhz, 1.86gHz
  • RAM 16GB
  • Virtual RAM 22.5
  • Intel UHD Graphics
  • NVIDIA Geoforce MX110 (Affinity Photo has hardware acceleration enabled)

Steps to reproduce - two documents open, including the document where flattened image will be pasted:

  • Create multiple layer photo
    • background
    • background duplicated
    • mask (to pull out headshot)
    • white balance
    • brightness/contrast
    • vibrance
    • live filter high pass
    • live filter high pass
    • mask layered Ellipse shape with Gaussian Blur set to 9.9 pixels
  • Group layers together
  • Select group
  • Select Edit, Copy Flattened (Affinity Photo  message: Not Responding)
  • Once system returns to responsive state (several seconds), click to second document tab
  • Select Edit, Paste
  • Review newly inserted image to see if it worked

Approximately 90% of the time, I'm seeing the empty pixel "chunks" for lack of better description. I'm attaching a screen grab of a previously attempted copy flattened/paste action and a short video. I hope these help. I'm struggling with this new release which is creating significant slow down in my workflow - unacceptable for a small business. Please straighten out these issues. In the meantime, I'm going to see if I can revert my Windows Store version back to an earlier release.

Welcome to the forums @Debenash,

There's problems with the new Hardware Acceleration-OpenCL feature. If your system meets the specs, it is enabled by default. Could you disable it by going to Preferences>Performance and untick the box beside it. This should correct your issue for now until they get it fixed.

You might also want to download the current Beta and try it. This issue might already be fixed. Photo Beta 1.9.2.997
