AleBolbo Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Dear Ladies and Gentleman, Is it necessary to download the ressources bought in the store (brushes, etc.) within each app (Photo, Designer, Publisher)? Some of them are really huge Or is it possible to share the downloaded ressources in any way for the different apps? (Windows-Desktop) Many thanks for an advise! Best regards, Alexander Quote
Alfred Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, Alexander. If you download the resources from within one of the apps, you will need to download them again for use in the other apps. However, if you log in to the Affinity Store website and download them to a location of your choice, you can then import them into each of the apps without having to download them again. walt.farrell Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 That saves network traffic, but it won't save much space. The items still need to be saved in all the apps, so that's 3 times the storage if they're installed in all 3 apps. And sharing is not possible. The really big ones are asset files. I think that each of those has a copy you can download manually that is a zip file of JPG images. Those can be used without installing into the apps. It makes them less convenient to use, but takes less space. And it's easier for you to control what drive they live on. Resources that are downloadable into Publisher (e.g. assets) will be available in Designer and APhoto via studio link, hence you only need to download/install them once Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. But more precisely: Resources that are downloadable into Publisher (e.g. assets) will be available in Publisher's Designer and APhoto Personas via studio link, hence you only need to download/install them once if you can do your work in Publisher rather than using the individual Designer and Photo applications. Thanks for mentioning that, Carl. It's another reason to try to arrange one's workflow to work within Publisher. But there's enough that you can't do within Publisher that this won't be feasible for some workflows. The question then is whether those workflows, when working in the standalone applications, would need the resources. And there are many users who don’t have Publisher installed (including me when I’m using my iPad).
