Bug in Filter Gausian Blur

Recommended Posts

I found a bug in the latest beta 1.9.2.xxx and last release version in Affinity photo, depending on hardware acceleration.

If hardware acceleration is on, notebook with Intel HD Graphics 520 on chip is on, then the gaussian blur filter change the image completely to white with adjusted radius greater than 10px. That happens also with the filter frequency separation.  With hardware acceleration of the fiters works well with high adjustments.

On my desktop computer with a G-Force 950 this bug is not present.

Regards Erhard

I ads some additional infos, regarding to the read first:

  1. Are you using the latest beta build? Yes the 1.9.2.997 build. It als habens in the relase Version 1.9.1.
( There is normally a post pinned at the top of the relevant forum that describes where to find the beta installer)

  2. Can you reproduce it? Yes
(if you cannot then we may struggle to also, making it even harder to fix)

  3. Does it happen for a new document? If not do you have a document you can share that shows the problem?  It must be a photo, a new Document can not be blurred.

  4. If you cannot provide a sample document then please give an accurate description of the problem for example it should include most of the following:

  •    What application are you using? (so Affinity Photo or you are in the wrong forum) =è Affinity Photo

  •    What is your operating system and version (Windows 10, OSX Mojave, iOS 12 etc)?  Windows 10 latest version

  •    What happened for you (and what you expected to happen)  è The picture changed bay filtering completely to white.

  •    Provide a recipe for creating the problem (step-by-step what you did).

  • Open a picture, choose filter gaussian blur, adjut the slider to mor than 10px, apply.

  •    Screenshots (very handy) or a screen capture/video. Make no sence, because the picture, result of the filtering, is completely white.

  •    Any unusual hardware (like tablets or external monitors or drives that may affect things) or relevant other applications like font managers or display managers. It’s a not modified nootbook Lenovo T460s

  •    Did this same thing used to work and if so have you changed anything recently? (software or hardware). There is nothing changed.
