sfriedberg
I don't expect the standard dictionary to recognize limited technical vocabulary like "chiral", "achiral" or "dihedral", but the Affinity Publisher 1.9.1.979 preflight on Windows doesn't recognize "involutions", although it does accept "involution". Worse, it judges "rotationally" and "lexicographically" as spelling mistakes, but accepts "rotationaly" and "lexicographicaly", which are simply incorrect. What dictionary is being used, where is it installed, and what format is it in? On Windows, the LibreOffice Writer spell checker is giving me slightly poorer results than the Affinity Suite. The antique Corel Ventural Publisher 10 spell checker gives substantially better results than either, as it recognizes "dihedral", "rotationally" and "lexicographically", for example. walt.farrell
They're using a Hunspell dictionary, but exactly which one depends on which version of English you've configured for your UI, or specified as the spelling language for a particular word in the Character panel or via the applied text style. And your Windows Region settings, and keyboard settings, have an effect I have not figured out yet. The pre-installed dictionaries, if you purchased from the Affinity Store, are located in <install-directory>\Affinity\Publisher\Resources\Dictionaries but they will be in a different location if you purchased from Microsoft. They might be using dictionaries from LibreOffice, but I haven't checked. The FAQ describes getting additional dictionaries from LibreOffice and tells you how to install them, if that helps: sfriedberg 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 17.4.1, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sonoma 14.4.
