Cheddarman Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 (edited) I have downloaded and installed the Affinity Photos on my MacBook Book Pro and the Logo appears on. both my Dock and in my Application folder but when I click on them nothing happens. I thought I'd re instal from the .dmg file so I went to delete the existing Affinity in my application folder only to be told that "cannot delete as it is in use". So, Affinity is open but not visible???? Edited March 5, 2021 by Cheddarman Quote
Staff Callum Posted May 21, 2021 Staff Posted May 21, 2021 Hi Cheddarman Welcome to the forums, If you restart your Mac does it still say Affinity Photo is in use? Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
Cheddarman Posted May 21, 2021 Author Posted May 21, 2021 No. Once I've re booted the computer if I click on the Affinity logo in my tool-bar I get the option to "open" it and it does open when I click on this. However, if I then close the application, from within the application, it closes but when looking at the logo in the tool bar it says it's still open. Clicking on the logo does nothing nor does going into my Applications. I have to select "Quit" in the tool bar logo and then I can go into my application folder and open it again. Sub menu from the Affinity logo in the tool bar AFTER I have closed Affinity from within the program - Affinity Photo - Quit. Quote

Open is for both Documents and Applications. Close is is for Documents only and Quit is for Applications only. Applications need to Quit. Documents need to be Closed. That's why you still have a "Quit" option in the menu & why clicking on its icon in the Dock or in the Applications folder doesn't do anything -- the app is still running, just with no visible windows.
