Photo: How to export settings and workspace?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Since version 1.9 is too sluggish for my notebook, I have to switch to my editing workstation, which has more power, as a test.

For this I would like to save my workspace and all the settings (also the ones from the Development Persona, like Basic, Lens, Details,... or also assets).

Is there somewhere in Affinity a possibility to export the whole thing in one go and take it over for a new installation?
I know: I can export assets and load them again. But that doesn't work with the templates from the Development Persona (no export available).
Also I would like to take over window layouts 1:1.

Any tips?

Jeff

If you purchased Photo from the Affinity Store, you should be able to copy the folder %AppData%\Affinity\Photo\1 from your laptop to your desktop and that will have everything. (You can just paste that folder name into the address bar of File Explorer, or press the Windows Key and R, and paste it into the Run dialog and press OK.)

This is a very strange insinuation now. Of course the tools are bought. My gasoline to the film set is more expensive.

The point Walt meant here is another context one, there are slightly different named filesystem paths used depending on where the software is from, aka the Serif Affinity Store or the Microsoft system store. - For example ...

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Photo\1.0 (Trial)\Settings\

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Photo\1.0\Settings\

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Photo\1.0 (Store)\Settings\

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan
☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2

And also, that I know this procedure works for purchases from the Affinity Store. And almost certainly for the Trial versions. I have no direct experience doing this with the Microsoft Store versions, though I would expect it to work there, too.

Sorry, @JeffreyWalther, there was no insinuation intended. I was expecting one of three responses: Yes, I did. Or no, I purchased it from Microsoft. Or no, it's the trial version. (Or, maybe, I don't have that folder.)

I'd be grateful for some guidance along these lines too, please.. but in simpler language!  I just downloaded the latest Beta so that I can develop Nikon Z8 raw files.  I would like to transfer my library and assets to the beta version from AP2.  Is there a quick'n'easy way of transferring the lot to the Beta, please?  [Mac M1 running Sonoma 14.3]

The Assets, etc. should be transferred from the Retail version to the Beta when you first install the Beta, via a prompt about whether you want to transfer them. But if you've had the Beta installed from a prior version you wouldn't get that again. But in the application Settings/Preferences, you should find a Beta section at the bottom, and it offers the option to transfer them manually at any time. (However, any changes you make to them during the Beta can't easily be transferred back to the Release version; the Beta really is just for testing.)
