Pano crash (split)

Recommended Posts

DEAR MODERATOR,

I just installed succesfully last update affinity 1.9.1 and during first 2 hours I made SUCCESFULLY several pano's.  Now all at once Affinity crashes every time I end the first rendering of a serie of foto's AND EVEN MY SURFACE BOOK SHUDDED COMPELTELY OFF!    Is the new update 1.9.1 a crashing update?

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

I'm not a moderator (and often you will be speaking to other users, not Serif staff, here). However, from my understanding of the applications and Windows, the Affinity applications cannot crash the OS. However, your graphics drivers can do that,  and possibly you have a bug in a graphics driver that Affinity is exposing by the way it uses the graphics processing.

You might check to see if you have the latest drivers for your GPU installed, and if not, download them, uninstall the old ones, and the install the new ones.

You might also go to Edit > Preferences, and near the bottom of the Performance tab, check to see if you have Hardware Acceleration enabled. If you do, disabling it (and restarting the application) may resolve the issue for you, for now.

!Thank you for answer, Walt.farrell!  I learn from this that in fact affinity can not crash the OS.  I learn also to put of hardware aceleration.   Although I can imagin that using an excess of MBites can crash the OS : I explane :

I resolved my problem on a more lasy way for the coming time: Before the crash I used 20 raw-foto's that each were 50 Mb to stitch a panorama (my surface book slowed down by taking 15 minutes for a stitch) and now I decided to use only the 20 jpg-pictures (smartphone takes from each RAW also a jpg)  that each were 5 Mb: now my pc don't crash any more and this pano is stitsched in 2,5 minutes. Now I don't have any crash any more.

So if I later have to work again with 20 or more RAW's (the best way if you realy have to change lights&color of a pano), I will try your tric.

Thank you to help me.  Woow, this forum works great!  See you later;
