baxissimo
If you use a Colour Overlay effect on a layer and set the Colour Overlay to use Multiply blend mode, then take two of these layers and try to blend them together with "Add" blend mode then the Add blend mode seems to be ignored. If you take the two layers and put them each in their own Group it works ok. Or if you "Copy Merged" and re-paste the re-colored layers in a new document then that works (of course, then it's just basic "Add" with nothing else). It seems wrong that the blend mode used for applying the Layer Effect of Colour Overlay has any effect on the overall blending between different layers. The Add blend isn't really being ignored. The top object is Add-blended with the underlying composite before the top object's Layer Effect is applied. Red multiplied with white produces red, red multiplied with black produces black and red multiplied with green produces black which misled you into thinking the Add had been ignored. You reasonably expected that an object's Layer Effect would be applied to the object before the object is blended with the underlying composite. I wonder whether the contrary Affinity rendering order is deliberate or a bug. MEB

loukash
Or rather something like this? No blend modes involved: Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
