Hello,

I'm having trouble getting some 3rd party filters to show up in Affinity Photo, and it was suggested to me from Support at Exposure Software that installing their plugins may work better from the version downloadable from the Affinity website than from the Apple Store, and that there are limitations placed on the version in the Apple store that might not affect the Affinity version.

Specifically, and I quote, "It seems that downloading Affinity Photo directly from their website will work better. The Mac App Store version seems to have some limitation due to sandboxing that prevents our plug-ins from running."

My question is, how would I go about that? Would I have to purchase the software again? What about the add-ons that I received when I bought the Apple store version (rain, fog, rainbow)? I'm liking those and don't want to lose them if they were a special part of the version at the Apple Store.

That's handling wise something @Patrick Connor probably can answer best.

Is that approved by them or just an assumption? - However, I would first test/try that out maybe with an Affinity Photo Test or Beta version then, before possibly buying another copy!

No, the add-ons are a general "Affinity Photo 1.9.0 version update-offer" and thus not limited or bound to a specific store here. - Further you've got these via your Affinity account registration and not from Apple Store (MAS), it's something Serif offers and not Apple Store specific!

If you bought it from the Mac App Store ("MAS" for short) then yes, you would have to buy it again from the Affinity Store.

This is because for security/privacy reasons Apple does not share individual purchase info with Serif or any other vendor selling their apps through the MAS, so there is no way for Serif to know what (if anything) you bought from the MAS.
