Text cursor in A Photo is wonky in 1.9.1 on mac

Recommended Posts

The text cursor in AP 1.9.1 is wonky. I created a text block. When I insert the text cursor at the beginning of the last line to add a space, the whole working area shifts to the left and the cursor shifts off the "artboard". I quit AP, restart, and it still behaves the same way . . .

It is a bug because I cannot edit the text because it has gone off screen. When i place cursor to edit the text the second picture above happens. it is repeatable and still occurs when I restart the app . . . unless you have developed some new way to edit off screen text . . .

Can you upload that document?

If I take your document into Publisher and switch on Show Special Characters you can see you have about 17 spaces after the word "Here's" which is why the cursor ends up there and appears to be outside the text frame.

What I can't immediately understand is why the spaces do not simply wrap to the next line when they reach the edge of the text frame.

This also occurs on all other lines in your text. If you add spaces they appear outside the frame.

I may get a chance to have another look tomorrow but hopefully somone else will figure it out for you before then

Hm… as a typographer, I would consider the current behavior a Good Thing™.
People should better learn to stop adjusting spacing by typing multiple whitespaces… :D

If you really need line breaks by using multiple whitespace, there the non-breaking space that will do exactly that.

For the record, it's consistently happening in all three apps.

And for what it's worth, I just checked how the folks at the company which rhymes with schmadobe have solved it: the cursor remains inside the text box on the same line, and the whitespaces are simply being "squeezed".
That's how it should behave, in my opinion.

😂

Thanks. I did check to see what a few apps did and the one that rhymes with schmadobe did seem to have a nice solution.
