Hi @Mr Lucky,

Unless this is a new issue specific to Ventura then this is a long outstanding bug. The official position from Serif is that Vector file formats are non-zoomable (even though they actually are and I seriously hope they don't fix that) but Raster file formats are zoomable...

The bug on macOS is that when selecting an export format if any text entry field has focus, which it does by default for most formats, this overrides any attempts to zoom using the keyboard shortcuts so with something like a PDF export you need to first select and non-editable field in the export options panel, e.g., clicking the 'Include Layers' option so that non of the editable text fields have focus. At that point, the default keyboard shortcuts will work, Cmd +/-, Cmd 1, Cmd 2, Cmd 3 and Cmd 4.

The same issue applies to Raster formats, again you need to ensure none of the text entry fields have focus (e.g., selecting JPEG results in the Width field having focus) to be able to use the keyboard shortcuts but Raster formats do allow you to Alt mouse scroll over the preview in addition to the keyboard shortcuts for zooming...

Note: I'm showing Monterey here where the above is working albeit haphazardly so you may not see the same on Ventura if this is a genuine bug.

No, this is not working for me, however after ticking/unticking the layer field it does work with ALT and mouse wheel scroll so we have a partial solution many thanks!

Do you mean that even if you temporarily switch to PDF and tick the 'Include Layers' option, a text entry field remains the focus of the keyboard so whatever you try to type is entered there & the modifier key is ignored?

I may be misunderstanding.

I don't see an include layers option. I thought you might mean Don't export layers...

So I ticked that one. If I then type some characters they go into the Raster DPI field

Basically, you have to ensure no text entry fields have focus which is actually easier said than done depending on the file format you're exporting to... The 'include layers' option is only relevant for PDF files and was just an example of one way to remove the focus from a text entry field.

Alt mouse scroll works for all raster formats regardless since no keyboard commands that affect any of the text entry fields are being used in this instance...

For the PDF export choice, it is down near the end in the Advanced options. You probably will need to scroll down to see it.

For the PDF export choice

Found a workaround to use Zoom keyboard shortcuts with PDF preview:

  1. System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts → Keyboard → make sure "Change the way Tab moves focus" is active
  2. use the shortcut to change the Tab focus so that you can tab to all UI elements, not just input fields (generally, this is my standard setting anyway)
  3. in the Export dialog tab away from the input fields to give focus to any check box or popup menu
  4. voilà

That is not working for me but there seems to be something wrong with System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts → Keyboard on my system because I cannot edit or change that shortcut consistently -- sometimes it just gives me a system beep when I try or ignores what I set it to. I have to use the Defaults button to return it to CTRL+ F7, but it still does not work in Affinity.

Note that you may need to include the fn key to override the default media key assignment. So effectively the shortcut is fn-ctrl-F7 on recent standard Mac keyboards.

That allows me to set/change the shortcut but it still does not work in Affinity for me. Hitting Tab still stubbornly refuses to remove the focus from the numeric entry fields. it still just cycles through them.
