1.9.0 changes blend mode for alpha layers

Recommended Posts

Hi,

It was announced since Photo 1.9.0 that:

  • Blend modes now work on “alpha only” layers (masks, adjustments, live filters, etc.)

I would like to ask for how this feature can be used?

I could not spot any difference for a mask when changing the blend mode from normal to any other mode.

I have been informed by our QA team that this appears to be worded slightly incorrectly, we believe it to be blend modes on brush based tools when painting on Alpha (such as onto masks etc).

I hope this clears things up!

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!

Thank you, indeed.

It would be great if Affinity could remove or block / grey out non-functional controls for mask layers, e.g.:

  • blend ranges (on layer level): non-functional
  • Layer FX: non-functional
  • Blend Range: non-functional
  • Opacity: only confuse, as they reduce opacity of lower layers (instead of mask)

I'll be sure this is logged as an improvement with our developers :)
