I use Photo Mechanic to manage my photos. When I have Photo Mechanic bring up Affinity as an external editor (raw file) everything works great except when I export the file back to the original folder as a jpeg. The original raw file contained IPTC metadata (xmp sidecar) that is not transferred to the new exported jpeg. So, I have to manually insert the metadata. I shoot about 10,000 photos per year. All have extensive metadata. This is a big problem for me. Also, I noted that GPS data in the EXIF data has been removed.

This lack of support for IPTC is frustrating.  I have complained about this in the past (maybe 2 years ago?), and it got fixed once.  Now it's no longer working.  This makes the Affinity Photo product impractical for professional photography.

Attached are two sample files.  "Before.jpg" has populated captions and keyword IPTC fields.  I simply opened this photo in Affinity 1.9.1 (Windows) and exported it as "After.jpg".  Captions and keywords are gone.  I also tried in Affinity 1.8.5 and 1.9.0 and found the same problem.

I am viewing/editing these IPTC fields using IMatch.

Heya,

This could potentially be a serious regression—could you please zip the original issues up and attach them please? The forum re-encodes JPEGs so they won't be of any use I'm afraid.

Can I just make sure you're checking 'Export metadata' is checked in the Export > More dialog:

A quick test this end and it seems to be working.
