Clone Brush misbehaves in Pattern Layer

I was super excited to see the new Pattern Layer feature, which I'd like to use for refining seamless 3D textures.  The main tool in that situation is the Clone Brush.

However, if the source point is outside the pattern bounds where the brush is, the Clone Brush does not work -- it seems to only be able to see the single tile that the brush is over and not neighboring tiles.

I'm running Photo v1.9.0.932

EDIT:  Just updated to 1.9.1.979 and the problem is there as well.
