Location of Downloaded Assets

Recommended Posts

I just downloaded several sets of overlay assets for Affinity Photo on my iMac running BigSur. I see the grayed out overlays in my assets panel but when I go to install them I cannot find them on my drive. They all downloaded successfully. I have tried to search various folders/drives but they are not there. Can anyone tell me where they would be stored?

Thanks, Ben

Hi @bbrocks214,

I'm not familiar with Mac's file/route system, but on Windows they're located in a proprietary propcol file, called assets.propcol. C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Photo\1.0\user\assets.propcol.

Unless you downloaded them directly from your account at Serif's website. They would be where you wanted them downloaded to. Since you see them in your assets panel I'm guessing you used the My Account feature in Affinity Photo.

Do you have a document/file open? You need to in order to access them. Then it's a matter of drag-n-dropping one from the assets panel onto your document/file.

Affinity Photo 2.4..; Affinity Designer 2.4..; Affinity Publisher 2.4..; Affinity2 Beta versions. Affinity Photo,Designer 1.10.6.1605 Win10 Home Version:21H2, Build: 19044.1766: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5820K CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3301 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s);32GB Ram, Nvidia GTX 3070, 3-Internal HDD (1 Crucial MX5000 1TB, 1-Crucial MX5000 500GB, 1-WD 1 TB), 4 External HDD

If you can see them in your Assets panel they are already installed.

Don't worry that they are gray. Just use them.

Thank you both for the info. I found the file folder via Finder but when I go into Affinity Photo i canon get to it for some reason. Guess I'm not very adept at the working of the OS. Anyway when I'm in Photo I have the Asset Panel open and I see the overlays but they are grayed out and I'm not sure what to do from that point. I have other assets that display just fine but these were in stalled in previous versions of Affinty. I''m running 1.9.  If you look at the screen shot I've included you can see what I mean.  What do I do from this point to get the overlays to show up so I can use them?

They’re fog overlays, so they’re meant to be grey/gray.

I was trying to click on it and nothing happened

You can either drag an asset, or double-click and then Place it like you would with File > Place.
