Affinity Designer Crashing

Windows? Mac? By "latest update" do you mean the 1.9.1 update today?

All existing documents?

Can you create new documents?

Version 1.9.1.979. I have the issue on ALL apps.

I cannot open either. Create new document, it hangs and then crashes. Same for open existing.

Check out (update) to the v1.9.1 release version and retry! - If it there also hangs/crashes check the hardware acceleration settings and uncheck/disable OpenCL.

Then take a look if this maybe applies for your app settings ...

... if these are as default setup as True, if yes then change that to False and afterwards retest if it changes anything in overall app behavior.

Thanks, this seemed to fix the issue.

In the meantime I've build a little Windows support tool (see: Affinity OpenCL Disabler), which might help here to automatically disable possibly as default enabled hardware acceleration settings. The tool unchecks/disables the OpenCL setting ("<UseHardwareAcceleration>False</UseHardwareAcceleration>") in related PerformancePreferences.xml settings files for all Affinity release apps it can find on a Windows operating system (except Beta versions).
