Sides of image getting cut off after PNG export without background

Recommended Posts

Hey there!

I have grouped together two shapes that I drew in Affinity Designer. I want to export them as a PNG file without a background so that I can use it in my email signature without a white background. But when I do that, the edges of the image are cut off. I noticed that within Designer when I click on the group the selection box cuts through some of my shape. I'm assuming this is what is cutting off part of the image when I export it. How do I fix this?

What you have are two curves with a stroke applied. Select each Curve and expand the stroke then group them. Layer > Expand Stroke. The bounding box will then be set to the outside of the J and the b

... or try Export Persona, and create/set adequate size of Slice.

... or simply draw a large enough transparent rectangle, with no stroke, behind the other objects (i.e. at the bottom of the layer stack) and then select everything and export using the ‘Selection without background’ option.

I liked this idea. The only thing is I'm not sure how to export without a background from the export persona using the slice feature.

Document with Transparent background?

How do you export the logo? I have never been able to export cutted lines, the lines are always complete.
Document with Transparent background, Export (Whole document) - Line OK.
Document without Transparent background, Export (Selection without backround) - Line OK.
Export Persona, select group of line, Create Slice, export - Line OK.
